China Earthquake Claims at Least 7,600 Lives

The death toll from a major earthquake in China has risen past 7,600 as authorities continue to search for bodies and survivors.

The 7.8 magnitude quake devastated Sichuan Province, where most of the deaths took place. Close to 50 people were also reported dead in Gansu Province.

Authorities are looking for those trapped in schools and centers of employments as buildings collapsed from the quake.


The earthquake was reportedly so strong that it was felt in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
