Dozens of homes were left in ruins on Tuesday following fires that hit Northern California.
According to authorities, nearly two dozen homes and some 30 other buildings were destroyed as a wildfire hit the town of Palermo. The town of some 5,000 residents approximately 60 miles north of Sacramento was evacuated as hundreds of firefighters battled the blaze.
Some 50 miles south of Sacramento, several fires in the Stocktown area damaged or destroyed some 30 homes.
A morning fire in Stockton, California continued to burn as of noon on Tuesday. Reports say several homes have been destroyed.
The fire destroyed residences just east of Interstate 5. The blaze burned homes in the Quail Lakes area just north of March Lane, as hot, dry weather in the region has increased the fire danger to very high.
There are no reports of injuries or a property damage total at this time.
Stockton is approximately 50 miles south of Sacramento.
