Today’s economic challenges and leadership techniques are two of the topics to be addressed at the 34th annual Florida RIMS Educational Conference on July 28-Aug. 1 in Naples. More than 500 risk management professionals are expected to attend. The conference is hosted by all seven RIMS Florida chapters. The deadline to register online is July 20.

“Risk professionals are working in unprecedented times and, as a result, are asked to do more with less every day,” says Elizabeth Guimaraes, director and past president of RIMS Broward County Chapter and director of risk management at Nova Southeastern University. “The Florida RIMS Educational Conference offers an exceptional array of learning opportunities that will help risk professionals respond to the unique impact that the recession is having on their organizations.”

Keynote speakers at the conference include:

* Terry Fleming, RIMS vice president and director of risk management for Montgomery County, Maryland, who will open the conference and update attendees on the state of the Society; and,

*Donald Bailey, chairman and CEO of Willis HRH, who will discuss the impact of the economy on the industry and what the insurance sector needs to do to move forward.

The conference features more than 30 sessions on a variety of industry issues such as “How to be Good for Nothing—Improving Business Resilience on a Shoestring Budget”, “Understanding and Managing the Many Risks that Corporate Directors & Officers Face in the Current Market” and “Downsizing and Facility Closures: An Integrated Approach with HR and Risk Management for Cost Reduction Strategies”.

Networking events include the annual Florida RIMS Golf Tournament, sponsored by G4S Compliance and Investigations, at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort’s Tiburón Golf Course. Later in the week, attendees can mingle with service providers and win prizes at the fifth annual Florida RIMS Networking Raffle and Reception.

On-site registration will be available on July 28-30. Complete details on the 34th annual Florida RIMS Educational Conference may be found at
