Miami-Dade Prelim Flood Maps Available

Residents in Miami-Dade County will be able to view the newly revised preliminary Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps as they are posted online at www.miamidade.gov/derm. The maps were produced through a partnership among the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Miami-Dade County’s Department of Environmental Resources Management and the South Florida Water Management District.

Residents may view the maps at one of seven public Flood Risk Open Houses that will be held in February. Open house dates and locations are:

These are informal events open to all interested parties. Attendees will see paper or digital versions of the preliminary flood maps. Information tables will be available where federal and local staff will answer questions on flood insurance, engineering and building permits. At other stations, attendees can pick up a variety of printed information. Property owners, realtors, lenders and insurance agents are encouraged to attend and take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about flood risk and hazard mitigation within their communities.
