A Mississippi resident has been arrested on three felony charges following a home repair fraud investigation by the Attorney General’s Office, confirmed Attorney General Jim Hood. Roland J. Buras, 58, of Kiln, is under arrest following a complaint from a Pass Christian resident who was a victim of Hurricane Katrina. The homeowner reportedly hired Buras to clear debris from the property and make repairs to the home. Buras is accused of poorly completing some of the work and failing to do some work as agreed. After several months of investigation, warrants were obtained for Buras on Home Repair Fraud in Harrison County and Felony False Pretense and Wire Fraud in Hancock County. On Feb. 9, 2008, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office served the False Pretense and Wire Fraud Warrants. Buras was released on a $5,000 bond set by Justice Court Judge Ricky Adams. On Feb. 11, 2008, Buras turned himself into the Consumer Protection Division Office on the Home Repair Fraud charge. Buras was booked into the Harrison County Adult Detention Center under a $50,000 bond set by Justice Court Judge Gene Dedeaux.
