Reinsurance Claims, Arbitration Event March 2-3

Mealey's Litigation Conferences has announced that it will hold the "Reinsurance Claims & Arbitration Conference" on March 2-3, 2009, at The Westin Grand in Washington, D.C. A program dedicated to women attorneys and executives immediately follows the event.

Chairing Reinsurance Claims & Arbitration will be Ann Field, vice president Reinsurance Claims & Legal with Zurich North America, Schaumburg, Ill.; Joy Langford with Chadbourne & Parke LLP, Washington, DC; and Elaine Lehnert, managing director, Veris Consulting, LLC, Red Bank, NJ.

Topics include writing and placing the reinsurance treaty and facultative contract; the accounting life of a reinsurance claim from the cedent and reinsurer perspective; operational considerations surrounding reinsurance contracts for the cedent and reinsurer; dealing with the major recurring issues; emerging trends in reinsurance; dispute resolution; the top executive's view of managing recoverables; claims for ECO/XPL and reinsurability for punitive damages; in-house expectations of in-house counsel; reinsurance audits; and the view from reinsurance arbitrators.

A cocktail reception sponsored by Veris Consulting LLC will be held after the first day.

Attention women attorneys and executives: Taking place immediately following the reinsurance and arbitration conference will be "Women in Law & Business: How to Arrive, Survive & Thrive at the Top."
