California Strip Mall Blaze Results in $1M Damage

A three-alarm fire did major damage Thursday to a San Jose strip mall, however no major injuries were reported.

According to fire officials, nine businesses were damaged or destroyed in the early morning blaze at 5156 Moorpark Ave.

The fire blazed through the strip mall, resulting in smoke damage to a half-dozen businesses including a hair salon, a dry cleaner, a bridal shop, a jewelry store and a bead supply store. Firefighters brought the blaze under control about an hour and a half later.

Damage to the strip mall is estimated at close to $1 million.
