Travelers' Execs Featured on Marketing Podcast

Two featured presenters at the 2008 Insurance Marketing and Advertising Summit are interviewed in the latest edition of the Insurance Marketing Podcast, available online as downloadable audio.

Shane Boyd, vice president of Communications and Branding, and Jennifer Wislocki, 2nd vice president for Communications and Sponsorships, spoke about Travelers sponsorship of a high-profile PGA golf event and the reacquiring of Travelers iconic red umbrella logo.

Boyd and his team are responsible for the Insurance In Synch television advertising campaign. In the interview, Boyd said he is particularly excited about combining the increased branding efforts with Travelers well-known red umbrella logo.

The Travelers umbrella and the red umbrella icon has been part of our company, not just our advertising but really how people recognize our company, for decades and something weve used on and off for the better part of a century. Unfortunately we lost the red umbrella icon when Travelers was temporarily acquired by Citi and then spun off, sold off. Citi retained the rights to the red umbrella, Boyd told Best's Review Editor Lynna Goch in the interview. Thankfully in the consumers mind we never lost it. So when Citi decided to stop using the red umbrella icon we had the opportunity to reacquire it legally. We put it back really where it belongs. In a way we got to bring it home. Since then weve been focused on reintegrating the umbrella into all of our marketing and communications material.
