An Irvington, Kentucky woman was sentenced to one year in prison, probated, and fined more than $1,800 after pleading guilty to a felony count of insurance fraud.
According to Breckinridge Circuit Court documents, Shirley Ramsey, 63, purchased an automobile insurance policy and paid the premium. After obtaining the proof of insurance card, she stopped payment on the check. She later presented the card to the county clerk’s office to show proof of insurance required to obtain license tags.
She was sentenced to one year in prison, probated. In addition, she was ordered to pay a fine of $639.45 to DOI for investigative expenses; $195 in court costs, and an additional $1,000 fine to the court.
