N.C. Woman Charged in Healthcare Scam

North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Jim Long recently announced the arrest of Wendy Renee Wilson, 29, of Mebane.

She turned herself into Department of Insurance investigators and was charged with one count of insurance fraud. She was processed at the Durham County Magistrate's Office placed under a $5,000 unsecured bond.

Department investigators allege the following:

Wilson filed a phony insurance claim with Nationwide Insurance Company stating that she had received medical treatments at the doctor's office where she was previously employed. She received nearly $800 as "reimbursement" for the doctor's appointments that never took place.
