Washington Boat Operator Arrested After Fatal Accident

Authorities in Washington have arrested a boat operator who they say was drunk at the time of a fatal accident.

The boat flipped Thursday evening, leaving at least one child dead. Rescuers were still searching for the deceased boy's older brother and a 32-year-old man who went in the water. There were five people on the boat when it capsized after running into a sanbar on the Nisqually River.

The boat's operator, Vincent Farler, 42, survived the accident, as did the mother of the two boys on board. Authorities say none of the occupants of the boat were wearing life jackets at the time of the incident.

Farler was arrested on suspicion of homicide by watercraft.

Boating while drinking is a big problem everywhere. At least have your passengers wear a vest, if you are driving and going at a high rate.
