Band Involved in Deadly R.I. Fire to Pay $1 Million

Federal court papers revealed Tuesday that the band whose pyrotechnics began a deadly fire five years ago in a Rhode Island night club will pay $1 million to the survivors and victims' relatives.

In February of 2003, the band Great White was playing at The Station night club when a fire broke out during the show. In all, 100 people died and more than 200 were injured in the deadly blaze.

The $1 million being made to finalize the victims' federal lawsuit claims is reportedly the amount of insurance held by the parties.

A number of defendants have proposed about $175 million to settle lawsuits.
