Indy Couple Indicted in Katrina Fraud

Authorities report that an Indianapolis couple has been indicted by a federal grand jury for reportedly claiming $22,000 meant to help victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Jimmy Alexander, 38, and Dawn Alexander, 34, who both could face a possible maximum prison sentence of 10 years, were indicted this week for conspiracy and theft of public money following an investigation by the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI.

The Alexanders are accused of filing multiple phony documents with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, claiming that Jimmy Alexander was a resident of New Orleans and that his home suffered damaged from Katrina.

The couple reportedly received approximately $22,000 from the Katrina relief program.
