A two-alarm fire near Union City, Ohio early Monday morning led to the deaths of more than 1,000 farm animals.
According to authorities, the fire engulfed a 40-by-200 hog barn shortly after midnight. Firefighters from at least 10 departments battled the blaze, but they were unable to save the building or the animals inside.
Authorities reported that some 150 sow and nearly 1,000 baby pigs were killed in the fire.
