AIG Prime Insurer on Downed US Airways Jet

American International Group Inc. reported today it was the prime insurer for the US Airways passenger jet that landed in Manhattan's Hudson River on Thursday. A total of 155 passengers and crew members survived the landing after the plane's engines were reportedly damaged by a flock of birds.

AIG did not detail the value of the coverage, or the names of other insurers on the program.

The Airbus A320 was bound for Charlotte, N.C., when it went down some three minutes into the flight from New York's LaGuardia Airport.
