Sacramento Man Arrested for Vehicle Arson

California Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner announced the arrest of Michael Henderson, 30, of Sacramento, for suspected auto insurance fraud. He self surrendered to authorities on Jan. 5. Bail was set at $25,000.

In February 2008, Henderson filed a police report and an insurance claim, allegedly stating that his 2003 GMC Yukon had been stolen from his driveway. Ten days after the police report was filed, the Sacramento Police Department recovered the vehicle, which had been completely burned. Through the course of a CDI investigation, Henderson allegedly confessed to his involvement in the staged theft and burning of his vehicle. Henderson allegedly attempted to defraud his insurance company of $22,000.

If convicted of all counts, Henderson could face up to five years in prison.
