Central California Wildfire Destroys a Dozen Structures

Firefighters in central California continue to wage battle against a wildfire that has reportedly burned some 3,000 acres since yesterday.

Hundreds of people have been evacuated from their homes, and at least a dozen structures have reportedly been destroyed.

The fire, buring in a mountain range dividing Santa Cruz and Santa Clara counties, has burned more than 4 square miles. Reports say an added 700 firefighters have been called in to battle the fire.

No injuries have been reported to date.

Hopefully the country will get a good dose of rain to minimize summer forest fires. In Arizona we've had a couple days of solid rain, hoping that helps these dry forests green up a bit.

az homeowner,
one of the problems is there is still a ton of dry brush just sitting around waiting to burn. we know what happened here in so. cal last october and hoping there is not a repeat this fall.
