Texas DWC Hosts Health/Safety Event May 22-23

The Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation (TDI-DWC) assist employers and employees in maintaining safe workplaces and preventing occupational injuries and illnesses. As a part of it’s mission, the TDI-DWC will host the 12th Annual Health and Safety Conference, the Texas Safety Summit, on May 22-23 in Austin at the Doubletree Hotel, 6505 IH 35 North.

The Safety and Health Conference is open to all employers in the Texas workforce, whether or not they subscribe to workers’ compensation. It features over 20 breakout sessions to address pertinent workplace safety issues facing Texas employers. In addition, the general sessions include:

  • OSHA Update delivered by Edwin Foulke, Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health, U.S. Department of Labor;
  • Have an Exit Strategy: When to Get Out Alive presented by Paul Maldonado with the State Fire Marshal’s Office;
  • Ergonomics/Back Injury Protection presented by Petti Redding, OTR, President of The Redding Group; and
  • If a Car Could Talk presented by Sr. Trooper Garry Parker with the Texas Department of Public Safety.
