California Settles for $1M with Nation Motor Club

California Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner announced a $1 million settlement with Nation Motor Club, also known as Nation Safe Drivers.

In February, Poizner formally accused the Florida-based company of transacting business without a proper license from the California Department of Insurance.

In addition to the $1 million Nation Motor Club will pay to the California general fund, the company will also receive a license in California. The license will be a restricted license for a 10-year period. A company with a restricted license is held to a higher level of scrutiny, and may have its license revoked for what may otherwise be considered minor violations of law.
