North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Jim Long announced the arrest of Reginald Woods, 35, of Durham.
Woods was arrested late last week by a Department of Insurance investigator and charged with one count each of insurance fraud and obtaining property by false pretense. He was processed at the Durham County jail under a $10,000 unsecured bond.
Investigators allege the following: Woods filed a claim with his insurance company stating that his motorcycle was stolen, and received a payment of nearly $4,500. Several months later, Woods was stopped at a police checkpoint and was discovered riding the "stolen" motorcycle.
