Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood announced the arrest of yet another contractor on Felony Home Repair Fraud charges. Anthony Scott Colson (age 48), of Pass Christian, turned himself in to investigators for the Consumer Protection Divison of the Attorney Generals office.
Colson allegedly entered into a contract to perform repairs to a Hurricane Katrina damaged home in Pass Christian, and is accused of receiving over $35,000 and completing less than half of the work he was paid to do.
“Colson marks the 83rd arrest in Home Repair Fraud by the Attorney General’s Office,” said Hood. “I urge all Mississippi citizens to visit our Web site to gain invaluable knowledge on home repair fraud, and how to keep from becoming a victim.”
Harrison County Justice Court Judge Louis Ladner set bail at $10,000. Colson posted bail through the Harrison County Adult Detention Center and was released.

I wonder why the guy did half the work if he was intending to commit fraud. Wouldn't he have just taken the money and not done the work at all. Something seems missing from the story. Maybe he under bid the job or was having financial issues. It doesn't excuse not completing his agreed upon work, but would be a better reason than outright fraud.
