Transamerica Registers as Admitted Reinsurer in Brazil

In preparation for the opening of the Brazilian reinsurance market, Transamerica Reinsurance will be taking steps to be registered as an admitted reinsurer in Brazil.

Dr. Rodolfo Wehrhahn, managing director of Latin American markets, said, “For the past six years, we have been visiting the market and working in tandem with the IRB on a number of local projects. In 2006, we began Transamerica Re Consultoria em Seguros e Servicos Ltda., opening offices in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. We market a variety of risk management consulting services throughout Brazil, including management of all life insurance risks, product development, financial planning and customized training programs in insurance activities such as actuarial science and underwriting. Becoming an admitted reinsurer represents the next step in our efforts to provide reinsurance and risk management services to the Brazilian insurance industry."
