A portion of a La Jolla, California hillside collapsed shortly Wednesday after 9 a.m., leading to the precautionary evacuation of four multimillion-dollar homes.
The collapse, which was first reported by a construction worker in the area, was reportedly the result of a slow leak in a private water line, which seeped into the hill. The slide took place on the northwest side of Mount Soledad - one of San Diego's more expensive neighborhoods.
The residents who had to leave the homes were allowed back in shortly before 1 p.m.
