UPDATE: California Wildfires Hit Los Angeles Area

Firefighters spent a good portion of the weekend battling a wildfire in dense brush near Los Angeles that forced more than 1,000 people from their homes. The areas most impacted by the blaze are Sierra Madre and Arcadia.

Nearly 500 firefighters were battling the 400-acre blaze that was reported Saturday afternoon during hot and dry weather this weekend in Southern California. Several hundred homes were threatened, but there have been no reports as of Sunday evening of any major property destruction or injuries with the fire.
Thirty-five members of a mountaintop wedding party had to be relocated via helicopter, as the fire moved within several miles of where they were.

Although this is generally not regarded as fire season, the area where the fire was burning was faced with a lot of dry brush that has not burned for some time. Throw in temperatures in the 90s and some winds, and firefighters have been faced with a challenging situation.

Authorities report they hope to have the blaze contained in the next several days.

quite a sad affair, hope no one got hurt!We are fortunate enough here in Africa that bush fires are not that common otherwise most Countries here would lack capacity to deal with forest fires and bush fires of such magnitude!
