Company Fined for Work Involving Romney Mansion

A Peabody, Massachusetts company that painted the Belmont mansion of former Gov. Mitt Romney when he was running for president has agreed to pay approximately $59,000 in penalties and restitution for exploiting dozens of its workers.

Olympic Painting and Roofing Co. also offered a guilty plea to a criminal charge of failure to acquire a workers' compensation insurance policy in 2005. The company is barred from performing any government work for three years and must also pay a $1,000 fine.

Olympic reportedly failed to pay 69 employees nearly$48,500 in overtime for work completed throughout 2006.

Owner George Vasiliades, 44, and his company also will pay over $48,700 in restitution to 69 affected employees along with $10,300 in penalties.
