N.Y. Contractor Arrested for Work Comp Fraud

A New York asbestos removal contractor was arrested for reportedly misrepresenting that his business had valid workers' compensation insurance.

Jose Montas, 31, of Yonkers, has been charged with second degree forgery and two counts of violating New York's Workers' Compensation Law.

Montas, who runs All State Environmental Corporation of Yonkers, allegedly altered a state insurance fund certificate by inserting a false time period, along with altering the certificate number.

He faces a maximum of two and one half to seven years in state prison for the major charge.
