Officials from the Louisiana Department of Insurance, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Governor's Office of Coastal Activities will host a briefing for insurers Wednesday in Baton Rouge regarding the status of the levee improvements.
A similar meeting was held in December of 2006 after insurance agents reported that a number of companies were reportedly reluctant to offer commercial insurance due to concerns about the strength of the levees.
The meeting is slated for 1 p.m. in the first floor hearing room of the Louisiana Department of Insurance, 1702 N. 3rd St. in Baton Rouge.
A flood warning has been issued by The National Weather Service for New Orleans, after a report was released saying the Mississippi River will reach 17 feet at the Carrollton gauge next Tuesday.
