The family of a 14-year-old Wayne, New Jersey boy has filed suit against a company that makes baseball bats after Steven Domalewski suffered brain damage from a line drive he took to the chest two years ago.
The suit was filed Monday against Hillerich & Bradsby Co., the parent company of Louisville Slugger. Also named in the suit are Little League and Sports Authority, which sold the metal bat.
The lawsuit claims the defendants knew, or should have known, that the metal bat was a danger for children to use. No monetary amount of damages was announced with the lawsuit.
Domalewski, 12 years old at the time of the injury in 2006, was hit with a line drive while pitching in a game. He is currently in a wheel chair, and cannot talk or walk, according to his parents.
He reportedly went into cardiac arrest after being hit with the line drive and into a coma. He was hospitalized for eight months following the incident.
