Louisiana Gov. Signs Bills Impacting Industry

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal on Monday signed several bills into law impacting the insurance industry that were passed by the legislature. They include:

HB 535 – Ponti
This bill relates to the allocation of death benefits to dependents of injured workers.

HB 547 – Ponti
This bill provides for the time and procedure for submission of filing fees as relates to workers’ compensation.

HB 554 – P. Smith
This bill relates to the discontinuance of businesses in violation of workers’ compensation laws.

HB 1266 – Baldone
This bill provides for the allocation of monies in the Medical Assistance Program Fraud Detection Fund.

SB 240 – Cravins
This bill changes the limits of liability of the Louisiana Insurance Guaranty Association from $150,000 to $300,000.
