N.J. Man Indicted for Health Benefits Fraud

New Jersey Attorney General Anne Milgram announced that an Atlantic County man has been indicted for allegedly stealing more than $6,000 in insurance benefits that were meant for a medical services provider.

According to Insurance Fraud Prosecutor Greta Gooden Brown, Charles J. Tiemann, 59, of Galloway, was charged with third-degree theft by failure to make required disposition.

The Atlantic County grand jury indictment alleges that between June 29, 2007, and June 17, 2008, Tiemann, a subscriber under Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield, received six checks totaling $6,074 from Horizon, which were payments for medical services provided to his wife, Francine Tiemann, by Integrative Medical Center.

The indictment alleges that Tiemann failed to remit the $6,074 to Integrative Medical Center and instead kept the money for himself.

Third-degree crimes carry a maximum sentence of five years in state prison and a criminal fine of $15,000. Tiemann also faces the possibility of civil insurance fraud fines.
