Minnesota Man Kills Dog, Sues Owners for Car Damage

A Minnesota man who struck and killed a dog back in January, is now suing the owners of the deceased pooch for damage done to his vehicle from the accident.

Jeffrey Ely's car hit the dog as it ran out onto the road, killing it instantly. By hitting the dog, Ely's car reportedly suffered some damage. Ely in turn is suing Nikki Munthe and her husband for just over $1,000 in damage to his car, time he took off from his work to get the car fixed, and court fees.

Ely says the car was working fine until that night when he hit the dog. He claims that pieces of his bumper impacted his radiator when he hit the dog, causing damage to the radiator.

Not to be outdone, the Munthes have logged a countersuit for nearly $2,500 against Ely for the cost to buy their dog, time taken off from work to appear in court, and costs for a replacement dog.
