An Indiana man has admitted that he set his house on fire to collect an insurance settlement.
Authorities said that Michael Hoffert of Terre Haute pled guilty to the charges of arson and false informing. Hoffert claimed at the time that he was not residing in the house because of a damaged sewer pipe.
Hoffert faces up to three years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines.
